First what is your name?

QUESTION #1. I know that my contractor must be insured and registered in the state in which I am building and that in order for a contractor to be engaged in construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair, removal or demolition involving the structural elements of buildings and structures in MT, the contractor must also be a licensed Construction Supervisor.

 
Answer: They have to be a what? I don't care about the protection that insurance, contractor registration and contractor licensing provide.
Answer: I think I heard something about checking for those things. I was wondering why the contractor asked me to get the permit.
Answer: Yes, I am well aware of these rules and regulations.
 
QUESTION #2. I am aware that building and zoning restrictions imposed by the city or county can affect what I can build and where I can build it.  
Answer: No.
Answer: I kinda thought so, but I'm pretty sure I’m OK.
Answer: I've already checked with the building official and my project is in compliance.
 
QUESTION #3. I know exactly what I want to accomplish with this project.  
Answer: I have no idea what I'm going to build, I just want to build something because it seems like fun.
Answer: I have a pretty good idea.
Answer: Yes, I have very specific needs/desires that I'd like to have met.
 
QUESTION #4. My spouse/partner and I have discussed this project and are in agreement with what it will look like.  
Answer: No. We cant talk about this without arguing.
Answer: Well, we’ve batted some ideas around.
Answer: Yes, but there are still a couple of things we disagree about.
Answer: Absolutely. We are in complete agreement about everything.
 
QUESTION #5. I already have plans and specifications.  
Answer: No. Do I need plans and specifications?
Answer: Sure, I drew them on this neat Design-Your-Own-Home software I got at Staples / Office Depot.
Answer: No, but I understand that I need to have plans and specifications to be sure that what gets built is what we wanted in the first place.
  Answer: I’ve already met with an architect and have a full set of plans and specifications including details, section drawings, electrical and mechanical drawings.
     
  QUESTION #6. I have already selected the appliances, fixtures and finish materials that will be used.  
  Answer: Construction hasn’t even started yet, what’s the hurry?
  Answer: I haven’t started yet, but I know I have to get to it.
  Answer: A few.
  Answer: Most of them.
  Answer: Yes, they have all been selected.
     
  QUESTION #7. I am aware that remodeling/new construction costs are generally between $100 and $300 per square foot.  
  Answer: You must be joking.
  Answer: I didn’t know that.
  Answer: Yes, I’m well aware of the costs of remodeling/new construction.
     
  QUESTION #8. I know that when I make decision changes after we are in contract, it has an effect on everyone involved in the construction process.  
  Answer: It does?
  Answer: Sure, but we can make up for that somehow, right?
  Answer: Of course.
     
  QUESTION #9. I’ve remodeled/built a new home/addition before.
 
  Answer: Never.
  Answer: My neighbor told me all about it.
  Answer: Yes, I have. I understand very well what the process will be like.
